Review of ‘Draft for Consultation’ Agriculture Priority Areas

Cover of 2050 - Phase 3 Workshop - Agriculture - Feb 24 2015The Municipality of Kings continues to review the ‘Draft for Consultation’ Municipal Planning Strategy in bite size pieces.  Councillors and Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) members together with Municipal Staff will review key topics in an informal workshop type meeting. While the discussions will help to provide informal direction, no formal decisions will be made.

The next workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th at 1:00 pm in the Council Chambers (municipal complex, 87 Cornwall St., Kentville).

The topic for discussion is “Agriculture Priority Designation”. This discussion will cover all things agriculture. Examples of items for discussion include the Agriculture High Capability (AH) Zone, commercial livestock barns, agritourism, agricultural industrial uses, and non-farm housing.

This meetings is open to the public and public comments will be welcomed at the end of the meeting. Please see the PDF below for more information.

    Regarding the 1A amendment. Seems like quite a change. Do we want large pig operations that close to homes or waterways? how does this bylaw proposal compare with other rural designations in other jurisdictions?
